Social Studies Teaching and Learning, formerly known as the Southern Social Studies Journal, is the official journal of the Kentucky Council for the Social Studies. This peer-reviewed journal addresses social studies-related topics of interests to teachers, pre-service teachers, and researchers, particularly in the area of inquiry-based learning. Social Studies Teaching and Learning welcomes research, essays, and practitioner manuscripts that deal with social studies curriculum, instructional practice, perspectives on social studies education, emerging and current topics. Reviews of social studies related media are also accepted for publication. At least one manuscript in each publication will be directly tied to inquiry-based learning in the social studies. All manuscript submissions to (SSTL) will be refereed using a double-blind peer review process.

Name, institutional affiliation, title, email address, and phone number for ALL authors should appear on the cover page only and nowhere else in the manuscript, including in references. For manuscripts with multiple authors, a contact author should be designated.
Manuscripts should not exceed 15 pages; approx. 7,500 words (Not including appendices and reference list).
If the manuscript includes images, appendices, etc., these should be included at the end of the manuscript in the same document. Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for, and properly crediting, any images used.
